In Axzon we have one slaughterhouse and meat processing plant. Prime Food is based in Poland in the town Przechlewo where our Polish pig production company Poldanor also has its headquarters. Prime Food and Poldanor work closely together in a unique closed cycle, meaning that Prime Food only buy slaughter pigs that have been bred and weaned in Poldanor
The unique collaboration means that we have a better control over the quality of our products and a high level of tracability in the production. Furthermore, the biosecurity level is secured at a high level as well, because we always fully control the origin of the pigs, how they have been bred, fed and treated throughout their lives. This way, we can easily adjust on various parametres in the production in order to follow market trends and costumer requests.
The process and the departments in the slaughterhouse are divided into four categories:
- Slaughtering with a capacity up to aproximately 10.000 pigs weekly
- Cutting and deboning with a capacity up to 12.000 pigs weekly
- Meat processing/packaging with a capacity of approximately 250 tonnes weekly
- MAP packaging with a capacity of approximately 340 tonnes weekly
MAP packaging is short for Modified Atmosphere Packaging which is a special preservation technique where the air surrounding the food in the package is changed to another composition in order for the meat to stay fresh as long as possible. Prime Food was the first meat production company in Poland to introduce this technique in 2001.
After the slaughtering the meat is divided into fresh or MAP products and Processed products. The various products are processed after different recipies- Afterwards it is packed and placed in the cool warehouse before being picked up and shipped to our costumers.
